16th International Open Air Festival - Jazz at the Old Town is one of the most popular and biggest, considering the number of the public, jazz festivals in Poland. It is also an artistic representation of Warsaw as well as a great attraction for music lovers and tourists from Poland and abroad.
Over 15 years of its existence, the festival had an impressive half a million of viewers of all ages. Each concert has an audience of up to 4 thousand and each edition gathers about 40 000. It is one of the oldest festivals in Poland and Europe. Each summer freely admitted public can listen to and enjoy domestic music stars and those from Europe and USA.
The festival is present in all important national media, it was featured on BBC World, CNN and TV Deutche Welle made a documentary about it. Carefully chosen program guarantees festivals popularity. Thanks to the festival, Polish public had an opportunity to listen to, for the first time, to the giants of the swing era like Scott Hamilton, Duffy Jackson, Dr. Lonnie Smith or creators of the modern jazz like Avishai Cohen.
Only in last few years such international stars as David Murray, Archie Sheep, Richard Galliano, Chico Freemen, Dino Saluzzi, Toni Lakatos, Caecille Norby, Jasper van Hof and Marilyn Mazur performed at the festival.
Krzysztof Wojciechowski and Iwona Strzelczyk-Wojciechowska of Jazz Art Foundation organizers of the festival invite:
"This years edition of the festival will be very exciting and interesting. Various stars, premiere events and great concerts will be presented throughout the summer in Warsaw. Traditionally the style of the festival will be varied from latin jazz and flamenco-jazz, mainstream, world-ethno music to soul, R & B and modern jazz. There will be premiere performances of musicians from the USA. We especially recommend young jazz stars - Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodriguez who is Quincy Jones protégé and Grace Kelly - American saxophonist called the princess of jazz. Concert of Yaron Herman named magician of the piano and of Spanish flamenco - jazz master Sergio Pamies will also be very special".
