International stars, premiere concerts and jazz discoveries throughout the summer in Warsaw at the jubilee 20th International Open Air Festival - Jazz at the Old Town.
The festival is one of the most popular and the biggest, considering the number of the public, jazz festivals in Poland. It is also an artistic representation of Warsaw, as well as a great attraction for music lovers and tourists from Poland and abroad. It is one of the longest lasting festivals in Poland and Europe, during which the public has a chance to listen, free of charge, to the jazz masters. Over the 19 years of its existence, the festival had an impressive half a million of viewers. Each concert has an audience of up to 3 thousand and each edition gathers about 30 000 thousand. It is present in most important national media, was featured by BBC World and Deutche Welle made a documentary about the event.
For many years the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and Mayor of Warsaw are Honorary Patrons of the festival.
Original program - different styles, international stars, premiere concerts and jazz discoveries characterize the festival.
In last few years such international stars as: Archie Sheep, David Murray, Richard Galliano, Dave Liebman, Dino Saluzzi, Chico Freeman, Bobo Stenson, Jeff Lorber , Kenny Wheeler, Yaron Herman, Jasper van Hof, Jeff Lorber, Marilyn Mazur, Danilo Rea, Jorge Pardo, Enrico Pieranunzi, Ernie Watts performed at the festival.
Polish public had an opportunity to listen to, for the first time, to the giants of the swing era like: Scott Hamilton, Duffy Jackson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and hear the music of the new discoveries of the American music scene as: Alfredo Rodriguez, Grace Kelly, Avishai Cohen, Kyle Eastwood (Clint Eastwoods son), Hiromi.
Most outstanding Polish artists like: Tomasz Stańko, Michał Urbaniak, Leszek Możdżer, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Włodzimierz Nahorny, Włodek Pawlik, to mention only a few, presented their original or anniversary projects.
The 20th edition of the festival features great stars and promises to be a revelation.

Composer and continuator of the legendary Blue Note tradition . - The New York Times" listed him as one of thirty musical personalities who will influence the growth of the world-s culture. Betty Carter, Dianne Reeves, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Cassandra Wilson are vocal , musical partners of this outstanding pianist.

5 July - Joey Calderazzo Trio /USA/
Jazz Top. The only concert in Poland by this great representative of the world-s jazz pianists. He gained wide recognition and is placed at the top of listings considering modern jazz creators. Besides his own projects he also co-worked with Michael Brecker Quartet and continually with Brandford Marsalis Quartet.
12 July - Reis - Demuth - Wiltgen Trio /Luxembourg/
The group is made up of outstanding and experienced European musicians with great achievements. Pianist, composer and arranger Michel Reis, Marc Demuth great bass player and very popular drummer Paul Wiltgen.
19 July - Urszula Dudziak SuperBand
Star of the Polish jazz scene and top of the modern jazz vocalism. Has a great vocal range, original technique as well as an opinion of being very creative and unique. Recorded about 50 albums .and performed with great artists like: Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius, Nina Simone, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Sting.
26 July - Mike Stern & Bill Evans Band feat. Tom Kennedy, Dennis Chambers /USA/
Jazz Top. World class jazz-fusion guitarist known for his recordings and concerts with Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Steps Ahead and one of the most famous saxophone players who performed with the giants like Miles Davis, John McLaughlin and Mahavishnu Orchestra.
2 August - Maria Pia de Vito Project /Italy/
World renown Italian vocalists, arranger and multiinstrumentalist. She sings jazz, world and experimental music. Is acclaimed for her stylized projects and work with great artists like: Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor, Ralph Towner, Joe Zawinul, Michael Brecker, Art Ensamble of Chicago.
9 August - Roy Hargrove Quintet /USA/
Jazz Top. Two time winner of the GRAMMY. One of the best American trumpet players, versatile innovator who co-created groups and performs with jazz masters like: Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Michael Brecker . He originally combines Afro-Cuban rythm with bebop and leads a very successful quintet.
16 August - Ofir Shwartz Trio /Israel/
Premiere. First time in Poland a performance by this young pianist, arranger, composer and producer , who is considered the most outstanding Israeli musician. He gains fans worldwide and his fame is proven by enthusiastic media commentaries. His progressive trio plays unique sounds rooted in jazz, rock and drum-n-bass.
23 August - Johannes Berauer The Vienna Chamber Diaries /Austria/
Recipient of many international awards, valued Austrian composer of jazz and modern classical music. His works were played in the USA, Australia, Japan and Europe as well as prestigious places like Wiener Musikverein, Konzerthaus Wien, HR-Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall in Boston. He combines jazz and classic chamber music in a very unique, interesting way.
30 August - Tord Gustavsen Quartet /Norway/
Polish premiere of the newest works by the Norwegian ECM star. One of the most innovative pianists who belongs to a group of the most interesting personalities on the European music scene. This music erudite, who greatly influences the modern jazz world, will present his newest album -Extended Circle", which already gained hearts of the public as well as the critics.
